Finally installed Akismet

The amount of spam that I’ve been getting on this blog has been steadily growing to ridiculous proportions. I’ve been putting off installing Akismet (a wordpress plugin that blocks spam) for ages because I thought that it might be complicated, but today I finally got round to it (after being driven to near insanity by spam).

It was REALLY quick and easy to install. I googled for it, downloaded it, extracted it to the correct folder, uploaded it, activated it on the plugins menu, went to wordpress to get my API Key and entered it – and that was it! Took about 5 minutes.

Now hopefully I won’t get distracted by stupid emails flooding in all day long tell me about a new spam comment on my blog. I’ll let you know how it goes.

You know you can turn off the “email every comment” feature right?

I have a number of spam plugins installed on my sites, and still get some coming through. – it’s the bane of every bloggers life.

I guessed there was a feature like that but I like to see “valid” posts like yours. Mind you the ratio was about 100 to 1! So I should have turned it off. Anyway, no spam in the last couple of hours, great! Thanks for the advice btw.
