Added an About Page
Finally I added an About Page to this blog which you can see at the top of the side bar. It’s useful because people can get a brief idea about who I am and what I do, plus there’s a picture of me (gasp!)
I also rearranged my sidebar because it had a huge list of monthly archives right at the top which is not that useful, so I moved it right to the bottom. Now the categories are at the top, which may encourage readers to browse a bit more, and also my Google Ads are a bit more prominent so will hopefully get some more clicks.
I really ought to bling this site up a bit more soon. I’m thinking about having some featured articles listed at the top for example, stuff like that. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! Thanks.

If you find a good “featured post” plugin then please let me know 🙂

I would start by having the blog page showcase a few things, maybe your three most recent posts. It should have a different layout to really bring these into focus and separate them from the rest of the site. Then I would add something to the right which lists your 5-10 most recent posts and possibly something for featured articles as you mentioned. Finally, unless you’re bringing in a reasonable amount of money I would turn off all the ads which simply distract and reduce the experience. Finally, I would consider updating your theme to something a little snazzier, but of course that’s personal taste.
Let me know if you want any plug-in recommendations or a more detailed discussion about how to create separate pages with unique themes, etc.

@Roman: Sure thing, otherwise I may have to code one but surely that’s not necessary?
@Alex: Thanks for the tips! It’s a good idea to show a list of recent posts for sure. Need to figure out how to do that.
